Financial Review and Results for the Year 2009 - 2010

I have pleasure to present the Forty Third Annual Report of the East Lancashire Mark Benevolent Fund for the year ending 5th April 2010.
Covenanted and Gift Aided Donations along with Donations from the Lodges and Brethren totalled £ 30,824, an increase of £ 704 on last year. Included in this figure were the proceeds of £ 5007 from the Car Raffle and Gorton Mark Lodge Charity Night organised by the Provincial Charity Steward of the year, WBro Stephen Swinyard.
The figure also includes £ 3308 raised at the Charity Ball held at Audenshaw in September and £ 1000 from the Leslie F Hiles Golf Day, £500 of which is to be used at the discretion of the Provincial Grand Master as is a donation of £300 from Temperance RAM Lodge.

Bank Interest from All Accounts and Dividends totalled £ 7,737 a reduction of £ 9,925 compared to last year caused by the drastic fall in Interest Rates.
The rental income from the Bolton and Blackburn properties was £ 78,423 compared to £ 79,533 last year. Expenditure on Maintenance and Insurance was £ 43,000

Income for the year exceeded expenditure by £ 48,130. £ 20,000 of this income was transferred to the Restricted Fund which will be used for a large Charity Grant during the year 2010, the 100th anniversary of the Mark Province in East Lancashire.
Spending intentions for the immediate future include support of the annual Mark Festival with a Grant of £10,000, which next year will be held in North Wales.
The East Manchester Community Boat Project will receive a further £ 1,000 grant following agreement to sponsor a seat on their canal boat and assist with their British Waterways licence fee.
In total we are aiming to distribute Grants totalling approx. £ 200,000 during next year, the 100th anniversary of the Province in East Lancashire.
Relief will continue to be given, through the Provincial Almoner, to deserving cases, as required.
