| A Message From The
Provincial Almoner
Please allow me to introduce
myself, my name is Keith W. Clayton and at the Provincial Grand
Lodge meeting in June 2004
I was appointed Provincial Grand Almoner,
succeeding
V.W.Bro. Jackson Dixon. The responsibilities of this office are not
unfamiliar to me, having
previously conducted these duties whilst Asst. Prov. Grand Secretary
1978/79 and as Prov. Grand Secretary 1979/85.
As the Mark Provincial Grand Almoner, part of my responsibility is
to apply to The Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons, Fund of
Benevolence, on behalf of all applicants, whether they be Mark
Master Masons and / or their dependants who may have fallen on
difficult times or who may be experiencing short term problems, to
assist in general terms, to advise where necessary and also
administer the disbursement of grants.
It is to this end I seek each and every Mark Master Masons help and
co-operation, and whilst I appreciate it is primary the Lodge
Almoners responsibility, I personally consider it is the duty of
each and every M.M.M. to help when necessary a Brother and / or his
dependant in time of need.
Please remember those in need are proud and do not necessarily shout
about their predicament or financial distress. If you are unsure if
someone would qualify or perhaps even you are experiencing difficult
times, please do not hesitate, contact me in total confidence. With
particular respect to widows or dependants I am sure each and every
member of our fraternity would wish to be reassured that a
responsible organisation such as ours is here to help. Financial
assistance is not just intended to enable our widows to exist, it is
to put the icing on the cake, the cream on the dessert, to help
enhance their remaining years with dignity and without financial
worries.
In conclusion, please remember that Mark Charities are available in
addition to those of the Craft. Mark Charities work in conjunction
with Craft Charities and not in opposition or as an alternative.
At this juncture I must publicly extend my thanks and appreciation
to the Chairman of the
E.L.M.B.I. Committee of Benevolence, the Welfare Officer and the
Craft Provincial Grand
Almoner, for their continued help and support.
Remember Brethren, if you do not ask you are unlikely to find the
answer.
